Agreement on Telecommunication Supply to Pituffik Space Base

Inussuk A/S and Tusass have entered into an agreement ensuring the supply of mobile telephony, internet, data services, as well as KNR radio and TV to Pituffik until 2033. The agreement has been made in coordination with the Greenlandic and American authorities responsible for the collaboration between the countries regarding Pituffik Space Base.

The agreement includes the temporary establishment of satellite supply to Pituffik via OneWeb by Tusass, as well as the joint construction of a Greensat satellite ground station in Pituffik by Tusass and Inussuk A/S in the summer of 2024. This will provide Pituffik with increased internet capacity starting from the fall and enable Tusass to introduce flat-rate internet for customers in Pituffik, similar to all other settlements in Greenland. Therefore, there will be no significant change in the services provided in Pituffik until these satellite facilities are established.

The agreement also ensures that Tusass can continue to operate and develop the 4G mobile network on the base, and that KNR radio and TV channels will be accessible, as in the rest of Greenland.

Chief Wholesale Officer Flemming Drechsel, Tusass, states: It has been important for Tusass to offer Pituffik Space Base a modern satellite solution, similar to the antenna stations that Tusass has built at its own expense in recent years in East Greenland and Qaanaaq. But it has also been important for us that our activities in Pituffik are economically sustainable and do not adversely affect our other customers. With the new agreement, a reasonable balance in things is ensured, and we will do our best to secure Pituffik's telecommunication supply in the future.

CEO Jeppe Bloch Steffensen, Inussuk A/S, states: We are pleased to provide our employees and partners in Pituffik with long-term assurance that mobile and internet services on the base will continue to function, and that access to Greenlandic radio and TV is maintained. We also find it valuable that, in this agreement with Tusass, we have a credible Greenlandic supplier with many years of experience in providing telecommunication services under the extreme Arctic conditions in Pituffik. We can rely on Tusass to prioritize the ongoing maintenance of the base's telecommunication supply and ensure prompt resolution of technical issues if they arise. I also know that our employees will look forward to better internet products when we can utilize the new satellite capacity in the fall.

Tusass is Greenland's provider of telephony and internet, as well as a carrier of packages and letters. At Tusass, we strive to create the best customer experiences and aim to be a strong asset for the benefit of the Greenlandic community.

Tusass brings the world closer to us – and us closer to each other.
