Forms and Permits

25. May 2026

Before traveling to Pituffik Space Base, there are typically a number of approvals, security requirements, and practical formalities that must be completed. Since Pituffik is both a high-security area and a U.S. military installation, the requirements are more extensive than for ordinary work assignments in Greenland.

Typically, you must have:

  • Approved employment or contract through Inussuk/V2X/subcontractor

  • Base access approval (Access Request / Base Pass)

  • Background check and security clearance

  • Valid passport

  • Work and residency documentation

  • Medical clearance / health approval

  • Any required vaccinations

  • Safety, environmental, and conduct training for the base

  • Flight and transportation approval

  • Signed compliance and confidentiality documents

  • IT and access permissions depending on the position

In Inussuk’s documentation, the following are specifically mentioned:

  • “Thule AB Access Request” as part of the employment and onboarding process

  • requirements regarding Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) procedures, safety training, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • COVID-related and medical procedures, including quarantine and isolation rules

  • ongoing employee training and certification requirements

For apprentices and interns, there are often additional requirements such as:

  • coordination with educational institutions

  • apprenticeship agreements

  • rotation or internship approvals

  • housing and travel coordination

There are also several practical considerations that many people are not aware of:

  • You cannot simply travel to Pituffik as a tourist

  • All transportation is coordinated through the employer

  • Alcohol, drones, photography, and certain types of equipment may be regulated

  • Personnel are often required to attend briefings regarding U.S. military rules and Force Protection Conditions (FPCON)
